Cloud Computing is Misunderstood, But Maybe it Doesn’t Matter

I predict that 2012 will be the year that cloud computing loses a lot of its luster for enterprises.

Not because it is going away or anything like that. Rather, the opposite is happening — it is becoming so ubiquitous and commonplace that business and IT end-users alike will almost forget that they’re even using software off the cloud.

“I’ve had a serious injury and NEED Help! Can somone please call Winding Trails in Farmington, CT tell them I’m stuck bike crash in woods,” she tweeted at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday.

Earlier that day, Fazzina and her cousin had entered a mini-triathlon at Winding Trails, an outdoor resort in Farmington. Fazzine, who runs a Philadelphia-based health care public relations and social media communications consultancy, took a wrong turn and headed deep into unfamiliar woods.

As she road downhill, Fazzina’s bike hit roots and and the cyclist flew over her handlebars.

“When in air all I kept thinking was ‘OMG – I’m going to break my neck!’ And there is no one out here with me!,” she wrote on her Web site.

She hit the ground, and her bike struck her as she landed.

VMware, Google To Collaborate on Cloud Applications

VMware on Wednesday announced a high-tech collaboration with Google.The companies said they will make enterprise software developers more efficient in building, deploying and managing applications in the cloud.

VMware President Paul Maritz announced the collaboration at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco, emphasizing how the work by the companies will accelerate enterprise adoption of private, public and hybrid clouds. It was all part of the 2010 Google I/O agenda to celebrate what Google describes as the “web’s evolution into the software development platform of choice.”
